Ian Clive Cameron
27/7/1936 – 9/12/2018
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Ian Cameron after a mighty long battle with cancer. Ian was a life member of the German Shepherd Dog Club of Victoria, Bairnsdale Dog Obedience Club, Bairnsdale and Districts Kennel Club.
An ambassador of the German Shepherd Dog since he was 7, Ian started breeding under his own prefix, “San Rancho” in 1954 when he was just 18. Greatest achievement was breeding 2 x gold medal winner *San Rancho Cinnomon AZ BSCL 1 (owned by P & Y Carless Winbirra Kennels).
Ian was a past Breed Surveyor, Specialist Judge, group 5 ANKC judge and started the Responsible Dog Ownership program in Bairnsdale and carried it through the state of Victoria. Ian was also involved in the start of the police dog squad in Victoria where he bred the first shepherd to join the squad. Ian was a dedicated German Shepherd lover and his information of pedigrees on the German Shepherd was mind blowing. His knowledge has been instrumental in helping others, but he did it for the love of the breed.
