Andrew O’Loughlin (SA)

Andrew is our Junior Showmanship Judge.

Andrew has grown up around German Shepherd Dogs and amongst the show scene after his parents purchased their first dog “Monty,” *Ch Craisan Satans Destiny ‘A’ ET in 1982. Monty was purchased as a pet, but soon became a noteworthy show dog. In 1991, Wayne and Judy established Arkahla Kennels, which Andrew is now a part of. Although we are a small kennel, we have achieved the GSDCA silver medal for both hips and elbows, bred 20 survey classified animals, 5 Australian Champions and 6 obedience titled animals.

Andrew began handling dogs in his teens, and was very lucky to have supportive people around him that gave him a chance to handle quality animals. Kevin and Velga Corlett of Bruangie Kennels were always happy for him to handle their dogs, and were one of the first to give Andrew a chance. Jane Pike, who trained with Judy, had Andrew help train “Paris”, *Ch Blitzenhund Sorbet City ‘A’ ‘Z’ amongst their many training sessions.

Andrew now handles mostly for Jane and Peter of Vonpeta Kennels, who he is lucky enough to co-own *Sup Ch Vonpeta Ugottabekidding ‘A’ ‘Z’ with. “Kid” and Andrew have had a very successful career together, winning in both the specialty and all breeds rings. Some notable results being 2nd baby puppy and junior dog at national shows, 6th open dog twice at national shows, runner up best in show Queensland champ show, best in show Adelaide Districts Working Dog Club, best in show 3rd Adelaide Winter International and many other in show awards.

Andrew enjoys handling in both specialty and all breeds rings which has lead to being a qualified group 5 judge and is now a German Shepherd specialist trainee judge, along with a group 6 trainee judge. He has also helped handle a number of other breeds, both at all breed shows and other breed specialty shows. He is also currently the GSDCA Youth Officer, along with the GSDCSA youth representative.
