Karl and Arko Retire....

At the GSDCV Championship Show on Sunday May 3rd 2009, Karl Heyne and Heynfeld Varrgo (better known as Arko) retired from the ring in spectacular fashion with a swansong full pace gait around the ring !!

Arko started his show career at a young age, gaining good places under both German and Australian judges at major shows. Despite a health setback, Arko later retuned to the ring. Arko was always in the first twenty dogs at our Nationals. He received the grading of Excellent many times over. Karl and family are very proud of him.

Karl is a life member of the GSDCV, a past president and training coordinator. Karl’s last role was as Geelong’s Branch manager from 2002-2007. Karl is the only GSDCV member to have had both show and obedience judges licences, being an obedience judge from 1969-2002 and a Group 5 judge from 1972-2002.

Now, at 76 years old, Karl has decided it was time they both retired.

For all those present at the GSDCV Championship Show on Sunday May 3rd 2009 it was a treat to watch Karl and Arko gait at full pace around the ring several times in their farewell appearance, neither missing a beat and both clearly enjoying every minute of it !.  Read the full story here
