VALE Monika Gilmour
Members and Friends said farewell to Monika Gilmour yesterday. Monika was a long serving member and instructor for the German Shepherd Dog Club of Victoria, and a stalwart of the Malvern Branch, who sadly passed away just over a week ago. Monika was a very accomplished obedience dog trainer and helped many people to hone their training skills with a view to competing with their dogs in obedience and tracking trials. She was held in high esteem by everybody who benefited from her knowledge, and this was borne out by the number of people who attended her memorial gathering yesterday afternoon. There were 50 or 60 people who came along to pay their respects, including many respected obedience trial judges who came to know Monika over the years through her own success in the trial rings. Jim Begg gave a very good summary of Monika's history within our Club, and Fran Farley related stories of her personal experiences and friendship with Monika.

Thank you to Greg Bobbin, a close friend of Monika's who organised the afternoon, and to another old friend Margaret Vasil for her huge effort co-ordinating the catering.

Farewell Monika, and we know you are now happily reunited with all of your beloved dogs who were waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.
